Alpha Compute and CCC Pay to Play Sponsorship

Alpha Compute and the CCC Pay to Play Sponsorship
Note: This set of notes is about Alpha Compute's September and October 2026 positioning moves. This short post is derived from our on-going reseearch into Telegram and the companies in its orbit. Remember, the statements in this essay are from my notes and should be viewed as working hypotheses. Verify before you trust any of my observations. These are ideas I captured as my team and I are working on "Post-Telegram Cyber Crime: The Agentic Era." Keep these disclaimers in mind as you review this document.
Here's question for you: What is more important? [a] Reporting record sales and revenues or [b] Paying to join an industry board.
If you answered [a], you are not on the same wavelength as Enzo Villani, Brittany Kaiser, and Yuri Mitin at Alpha Compute. The firm issued a news release on October 22, 2026, with this news: Alpha Compute Joins the Board of the Confidential Computing Consortium. I recently wrote about Alpha Compute’s intention to build a data center in Tioga County, Pennsylvania. In addition, the company proposes to extract flammables from nearby land. You can read my discussion of this PR push.
The CCC
What’s a Confidential Computing Consortium? The Linux Foundation set it up to come up with methods to protect data in transit. The idea is that traditional encryption can leave data exposed. The CCC has been around since 2019. The founding organizations included Alibaba, Arm, Google, Huawei, Intel, Microsoft, and Red Hat (IBM).
Alpha Compute’s interaction with the CCC began in early 2026. The company became a sponsor of the non-profit. In June 2026, Brittany Kaiser, a member of Alpha Compute’s leadership team, was a keynote speaker at the Confidential Computing Summit in San Francisco. On October 1, 2026, Alpha Compute became a premier member of the CCC. On October 22, 2026, Alpha Compute announced that it
… has joined the Confidential Computing Consortium (CCC) as a Premier member, effective Oct. 1, 2026, taking a seat at the table where the rules of private AI are being written. Chief Executive Officer Brittany Kaiser will represent the Company on the CCC Governing Board.
What the news release does not say is that the CCC sells Premier membership for $60,000 annually and “membership” includes:
- A voting seat on the Governing Board.
- A voting seat on the Technical Advisory Council (TAC).
- Representation and participation in consortium activities.
Did Alpha Compute become a sponsor and pay $60,000? That seems highly likely because in June 2026, Alpha Compute issued a news release to that effect.
The CCC explains how to do the pay-to-play game at https://confidentialcomputing.io/join. No technical vetting. No prior open source activities required. Just write a check and, it seems in the case of Alpha Compute, give a speech and associate the entity “Alpha Compute” with Nvidia, Fortinix, ElevenLabs.
Here are the mechanics:
- Pay to join an prominent industry group
- Position the new member company as a thought leader via a talk
- Create a news release that associates the new member with established industry companies
- Inflate the importance of the connection with the organization and the member companies.
The PR Game Plan
The game plan is “information shaping.”
Why does Alpha Compute have an interest in Confidential Computing? As a dinobaby who is suspicious of companies with more PR than revenues, I think the reason is Pavel Durov’s Cocoon. Telegram’s platform emphasizes its confidential computing feature as part of Telegram’s smart software initiative. Instead of Pavel Durov and his team building data centers, his organization wants to use excess AI compute to power its smart software offerings. Plus Telegram’s users and app developers can make use of surplus AI compute brokered by Telegram to deliver more robust bots, mini apps, and dApps (distributed applications). I have a hunch that confidential compute will be of interest to the Telegram community, and to Pavel Durov as he awaits resolution of the criminal charges lodged against him by France. Since his August 2024 arrest, other countries have taken steps to bring Mr. Durov and Telegram into an arena where laws, rules, and regulations must be followed. What countries have an interest in Mr. Durov, the self-proclaimed GOAT (greatest of all time) of Russian entrepreneurs? Here is a selected list of these countries:
- Australia
- Belgium
- Russia.
Can you spot any puffery in this description of Alpha Compute? This is from the cited news release, and I quote:
Alpha Compute Corp. (Nasdaq: ALP) is a vertically integrated technology company delivering High Performance Computing (HPC) and AI Confidential Compute. Alpha Compute’s mission is to empower clients, subsidiaries, and partners across critical sectors, including finance, defense, intelligence, and media with the essential framework required for secure, confidential computing environments. Alpha Compute operates globally with offices in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Amsterdam, and Toronto. Alpha Compute is a proud founding partner of the Right2Compute Coalition.
Alpha Compute (formerly AlphaTON Financial) was going to aggregate AI compute and resell it to outfits like Telegram. Telegram would pay Alpha Compute more than Alpha Compute bought the surplus capacity. That did not happen. Earlier this year, Alpha Compute bought 60 percent of GAMEE. The idea was that game revenues would flow to Alpha Compute and developers of e-games for GAMEE would use Alpha Compute’s surplus smart software capabilities. In September and October 2026, Alpha Compute announced that it would build its own data center, stock it with its Nvidia chips, and power generators using fuel extracted from land near the proposed data center. The PR journey is notable; the deliverables are less striking.
Net Net
What’s the next innovation for Alpha Compute? I honestly don’t know. I am still trying to figure out the mineral extraction angle on land in a county in Pennsylvania where mineral extraction has been underway for decades. This is fascinating to me. From a middle man role to alleged industry leadership with extraction management mixed in.
